About This Project
Executive Summary Energy Dome and New Era Energy & Digital (NUAI) signed an MOU on April 2, 2026, to deploy Energy Dome's CO2 Battery Plus technology at NUAI's Texas Critical Data Centers (TCDC) site in Ector County, near Odessa, Texas.
TCDC is a 438-acre AI and high-performance computing campus master-planned to scale to 1+ GW of capacity over multiple phases. The CO2 Battery Plus is designed to be deployed behind the meter alongside Open Cycle Gas Turbines (OCGTs), with three operating modes: Charge (compresses CO2 to liquid during off-peak periods), SuperBoost Discharge (uses OCGT exhaust heat to expand CO2 and generate additional power matching the output of a second turbine — more than doubling output), and Boost/Generation Mode (simultaneous charge and discharge in a closed loop, adding up to 25% output).
Key project objectives include maximizing speed-to-power (reducing grid interconnection dependency), ensuring high availability for mission-critical AI workloads, lowering delivered energy costs, and reducing carbon intensity of on-site power generation.
